Juicing

So I love my green smoothies but I have recently learned to love juicing. I try to alternate throughout the week. Juicing is fun but its a pain to clean the machine every single time and you use so much fruit and veggies to get a little juice. Also I read you take out the fiber in the veggies when you juice. I usually try to eat something with lots of fiber when I juice so I balance out. But juicing is good for you especially since your body doesn't have to break it down. It can get right to work in your body.

Smoothies

Here are a few pictures of my smoothies and some tips to enjoying them!
1. Bananas - Slice 1 banana in chunks and put into a ziplock bag, then into the freezer. I don't like adding ice so this is perfect for me.
2. I love adding almond milk and Greek yogurt to make it creamier.
3. I always add a fruit and usually it's frozen. Ex. Strawberries, peaches, pineapples, blueberries, mixed berries, mangos. I am not a fan of fruits that are really seedy but raspberries and blackberries are okay but not my favorite.
4. Greens I have tried:
- Liked - spinach, kale, chard (red & green) romaine, mint,
- Didn't Like - dandelion greens, mustard greens, avocados
5. After I put the ingredients in I just had water to blend. Not a lot but a little at a time.
6. There is an app I like on the iPhone I think it's just called green smoothies anyhow it's great! It tells you the nutritional value of every fruit and vegetable and course gives you recipes.
7. Lately I have been loving chia seeds in my smoothies. Check them out. Maybe my next post should be about a post dedicated to chia seeds. I love them that much.
Until next time.......

Green Smoothies and Weight Loss

Many people have noticed or asked about my recent weight loss.......so I figured I could share my story and experience. I kind of wish I had been blogging this all along. Oh well, here goes.....
Maybe In a later post I will post before and after pictures. First I must say this all started because a friend of mine was losing a ton of weight and I figured it's easier if you have someone to help you through so we could both do this together. In March 2012 I started just eating less and going to the gym more often. Seriously that was just the beginning. In April I went to Utah to meet up with my parents and drive back to California with them. While we were in Utah my mom had gotten a book from my Aunt called "The Green Smoothie Diet
Green Smoothies Diet: The Natural Program for Extraordinary Health
I read the whole book on the drive from Utah to California. I was hooked and ready to make huge changes in my life. My mom and I made our first green smoothie while in California. It was great! So we tried a few more recipes while I was there. Then I was convinced I needed my own blender and was ready to become a green smoothie fanatic. Ha Ha I have tried several greens, some I liked and continue adding to my smoothies and some I will never try again! You live and learn. Other days I would realize I didn't have everything the recipe called for so I would make my own concoction. Kelli (my cousin) has been a good sport and trying them and telling me "well you've made worse ones before."
But little did I know that here I would be 9 months later loving green smoothies, exercising 5 days a week and losing weight. So far I have lost 47 pounds.

Memorial Day weekend in So Cal

Jess and I had an interesting time getting around using the GPS that kept dying on us. So we switched to using the iphone and that took us to the church in Newport not the temple in Newport which is where we were trying to go. It made for some pretty good laughs. Once we finally made it to the temple we walked around the grounds and took some pictures. We even saw bunnies on the grounds. It was cute.

I love going to the beach to listen to the crashing water, feel the sand on my toes, and enjoy the peace of it all. So relaxing that all I want to do is take pictures. Jess and I hung out for a bit before we met up with Danielle and Kenny and their families and played some volleyball.

Catching some waves with the boogie board and some waves without the boogie board. I love being in the water. I don't care how cold it is.

The Valentine's side of the family love good ribs. My uncle makes some good ribs and we love chowing down on them. Of course you must have floss afterwards we have all learned and I am always prepared now. We love stuffing our faces and making a mess. I had talked up the ribs so much that Jess told my Uncle that they better be as good because of how much I talked about them. Well they were and she said so herself.

Trip to Utah with Lori

Lori was heading to Utah a random weekend and needed a car buddy. I made arrangements to go with her. We had some good times laughing the whole way and being silly from smelling the cows reminding us of Paul. Ha Ha! (I won't embarrass him.) Lori also can't sit still hence the funny pose she really did drive like that for a few seconds a bit scary but also entertaining. We also saw a fire on the side of the road.

Grandpa made breakfast every morning I was there. I love eating at CHOPS. You get anything from waffles to fluzies (smoothies) to eggs and of course homemade bread. I love it. I spent a lot of fun times with Grandpa that weekend just me and him. I even mowed the lawn for him.

I was able to go to Uncle John and Aunt Karen's house for Alisa's birthday party. I also got to meet baby Jackson for the first time. Nicolas was pretty funny with the cupcakes he just wanted to eat the frosting and put them back on the tray.

I met up with a friend who took me for a drive around Bridal Veil falls and to the top of Squaw Peak. It was beautiful up there. While we were up there my friend saw this family being picture perfect cute and he had to take his picture. Pretty funny.

Playing catch up! Breast Cancer Walk in Vegas

So when I think of the breast cancer walk I think of my friend Jordan from Woodland. We did the walk in Sacramento one time and got so excited. Wanting to be all decked out in breast cancer attire and ready to have some fun the day of the race. I missed Jordan on the walk but we had a pretty good time in Vegas. I got Rachel and Kelli to join the team with me. Kelli said she just did it so she could have a shirt. The team shirts said "Team Boobs." The fire fighters ran through and we got free samples of Fuze! So good!
